Course Description
This two-day workshop will engage participants in a critical examination of Euro-western research and its challenges and limitations within the contexts of Indigenous peoples. In this introductory workshop, participants will gain foundational knowledge of the history of research on Indigenous peoples while exploring the continuum of research paradigms toward an Indigenous re-search paradigm. This module will offer a new perspective on the role and place of Indigenous knowledge in a research journey. Participants will leave with a deepened understanding of research and how one might engage in it.
Course Outline
This module will:

Discuss the history of research in and on Indigenous peoples from the perspective of Indigenous peoples.

Critically examine common research paradigms in research and academic fields, as well as introduce Indigenous re-search paradigms.

Highlight the value and significance of Indigenous knowledge within re-search journeys.
Learner Outcomes
Participants will:

Be introduced to the history of research on and within Indigenous populations.

Begin exploring the key paradigms of historical and modern research, as well as become introduced to Indigenous re-search paradigms.

Consider and reflect upon the role and place of Indigenous knowledge within a re-search context.
