Course Description

The Primary/Junior Part 1 AQ Course supports understanding and interpreting 2020 Ontario Math Curriculum, policies and guidelines.

We explore the development of math conceptual understanding, effective instructional and assessment strategies, and opportunities to promote positive math experiences when working with colleagues, parents and the larger community. Participants will be exposed to a variety of current resources, including technological, communication, and concrete manipulative resources, to enhance their professional knowledge in support of student learning.

The format of this course will allow reflection on professional practice through ongoing inquiry, dialogue and reflection. We will focus on creating and sustaining safe, healthy, equitable and inclusive learning environments that honour and respect diversity.

Course material will be explored through exposure to current research, rich conversations, online posts, and assignments which are tailored to enhance participants’ personal context.
