Inside the Grow My Business program, you'll get everything you need to build lasting customer relations, strengthen your organization, and increase profits, so that you can grow your business in the way you want to.

Divided into three parts, the Grow My Business program offers you flexibility to enroll in one, two or three sections, depending on which area of your business you would like to see growth.

Who is this right for?

You are gaining new customers every day but feel like you're working week-to-week, or month-to-month, instead of having a manageable plan for your financial operations. You need to better manage your day-to-day business finances, look at your options for financing so you can grow your company, ensure you have productive workflows and logistics, and optimize your operations by automating your IT. In the Grow My Business program, you'll get everything you need to make the decisions and take the actions necessary to maintain profitable operations.

Course Outline

MODULE 1: Plan for Growth

Big journeys begin with small steps. In this module you'll outline your plan for growth, set 30-60-90 days goals, complete a 360 screening of your business to gain perspective and make more informed decisions moving forward.

 

MODULE 2: Managing Your Day-to-Day Business Finances

Keeping control over finances is a key issue when managing a business. In this module, you will decide where to put your focus based on the earning power of products and customers. You will review your company’s cost structure, profitability and cash flow and you will make decisions on how it can improve. Finally, you will create sales and cost budgets to help predict future earnings and reduce costs and expenses in the company.

 

MODULE 3: Get the Right Financing for your Business

Finding the best way to finance your business can be confusing. In this module, you will look at your options for getting financing and decide which ones to aim for. Next, you will work on gathering information that will give the lender insight into the business, including investment opportunities and a risk analysis of the business. You will also go through the terms to negotiate with the lender to make sure they end up with a beneficial credit agreement.

 

MODULE 4: Make Productive Workflows and Logistics

Making productive workflows and the logistics of producing and delivering company products can be crucial to ensuring satisfied clients. In this module, you will look at how to reduce waste in the broad sense of the word: waste of time, transportation, knowledge, even motivation. Next, you will dig into the root causes of the errors that happen to be able to better prevent them in the future.

 

MODULE 5: IT that can Automate and Optimize Your Operations

There are unlimited possibilities when it comes to software that will help run your business. In this module, you will look at which types of software could improve and streamline business operations. Next, you will decide the steps needed to implement the new software. Finally, you will consider the security risks associated with each new software and how to ensure safeguards.

 

MODULE 6: Facilities: Design your Infrastructure and Workspace

Creating the best conditions for products and people. The surroundings of the company influence its people, equipment, and products. In this module, you will focus on the location, functionality, and design of the company facilities, both for now and for future expansion of the business. Next, you will look into how to improve the management of inventory and decide how to gather and store company knowledge.

 

MODULE 7: Make Decisions, Take Action

Having completed all the previous modules, you are now ready to design the roadmap for growing your company’s operations now and in the future. By making decisions and taking action one-by-one, you'll maintain and grow profitable operations in your business.

Qualifications

  • You identify as a cis or trans woman, non-binary, gender-fluid or gender nonconforming person
  • 50% or more of your business is owned by a cis or trans woman, non-binary, gender-fluid, or gender nonconforming person
  • You have 5 quarters of revenue.
  • You have a registered business.
  • You are open to feedback and new ideas.
  • You are open to providing regular constructive feedback to the program.
  • You are ready to grow your existing business.

Discounts

Prior to registration, women entrepreneurs who live in southern Ontario can email wec@wlu.ca to receive a discount code for tuition subsidy through our partnership with the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

 

Refunds

Up to 10 days before the start of course: Full refund less 15% administrative fee. One to nine days before start of course: Full refund less 30% administrative fee. No refunds will be issued as of the first day of the course. No refunds will be granted for administrative or processing fees.
