Narrative therapy is a collaborative and deeply respectful approach to therapeutic practice that positions people as the experts in their own lives. Rather than locating problems within individuals, narrative therapy seeks to understand how problems are shaped by broader social, cultural, economic and political contexts.
 
This two-day course will provide an introduction to the theory and practice of narrative therapy. Participants will explore key narrative ideas and practices, including externalizing conversations, deconstruction, re-authoring conversations and ways of identifying and building upon people's unique responses to adversity. Throughout the course, participants will have opportunities to engage in discussion, experiential exercises and skill development activities designed to support the integration of narrative practices into their own work contexts.
