Course Description
Hours: 12
Attachment-focused therapy is a transformative approach that addresses the profound impact of attachment patterns formed in early childhood and their lasting effects on relationships and self-perception. This comprehensive Professional Development course is designed to equip psychotherapists with the tools and knowledge to effectively assess and intervene in attachment issues, promoting healthier relational patterns and emotional well-being in their clients.
This two-day course will explore the core principles of attachment theory and its application in therapeutic settings. Participants will learn to identify and understand the various attachment styles, recognize how these styles manifest in both childhood and adulthood, and implement targeted interventions to foster secure attachment in their clients. Emphasis will be placed on the therapeutic relationship as a critical component in the process of healing and transformation.
The course will present a thorough overview of the latest research on attachment theory, providing participants with a solid foundation to understand the intricacies of attachment dynamics. Through case studies, video demonstrations and interactive exercises, participants will gain practical skills in assessing attachment styles and implementing attachment-focused interventions.
Participants will learn:
• Overview of attachment theory: A comprehensive review of attachment theory, including its origins and key concepts.
• Categories of attachment: Understanding the different attachment styles (secure, anxious, avoidant, disorganized) and their characteristics.
• Attachment across the lifespan: How attachment styles develop from infancy through adulthood and their impact on relationships and mental health.
