0511 - Level II: CBT for GAD, OCD and Panic Disorder
Course Description

Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is the gold standard for treating anxiety disorders and symptoms. This two-day advanced course will focus on assessment, treatment planning and key short-term, brief CBT interventions for anxiety disorders. Specific topics include:
- Introduction to the CBT model of anxiety.
- Brief review of symptoms, screening and assessment tools for generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder.
- Five core interventions to treat anxiety:
- five factor model of anxiety
- monitoring/thought records
- review of the role of relaxation techniques and CBT best practice
- exposure response prevention (for each disorder)
- cognitive distortions of anxiety (anxiety predictions) and how to refute these

Prerequisites
To be eligible for CBT Level II, you must have completed Level I: Fundamentals of CBT or Level I: CBT for Chronic Illness and Diabetes Management (or an approved equivalent).
