0610 - Level II: Respecting Roots, Restructuring Thoughts: Culturally Responsive CBT in Action
Course Description
Hours: 12
This two-day experiential workshop explores how to apply cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) through a culturally responsive lens. Participants will deepen their understanding of how cultural identity, values, systemic inequities and lived experiences shape clients' thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Through case studies, reflective exercises and practical tools, clinicians will learn to adapt core CBT techniques in ways that respect cultural roots and promote psychological safety. Designed for mental health professionals committed to equity-informed practice, this training emphasizes cultural humility, client-centered engagement and the importance of context in cognitive restructuring and behavioural interventions.
