Course Description

Hours: 12

This two-day course provides a foundational understanding of parent–infant mental health through a trauma-informed, attachment-centered and developmentally sensitive lens. It examines the earliest building blocks of relational and emotional wellbeing, emphasizing the role of caregiving environments in shaping the nervous system, attachment security and stress regulation in infancy and early childhood.

Participants will explore how a caregiver’s mental health, past trauma and access to support systems can profoundly impact early relational dynamics. Special attention is given to intergenerational patterns and the systemic barriers families may face when trying to access support during the perinatal and early parenting years.

Ideal for professionals across perinatal, early years and family-focused disciplines, this course invites a shift toward prevention, relational repair and whole-family care. It blends theoretical knowledge with reflective practice to help providers recognize early signs of relational disruption and support resilience from the start.
