0617 - Female Adolescent Mental Health: Age-Specific Interventions
Course Description
Hours: 12
Adolescence is a time of profound psychological, emotional and neurological transformation—particularly for female-identifying youth. This two-day clinical workshop explores the complex and interwoven factors impacting female adolescent mental health and identity development in today’s world.
Participants will gain a deep understanding of the developmental, social and cultural pressures facing female adolescents, including sexual orientation, gender expression, body image, social media, peer and family dynamics, substance use, sexual activity and future uncertainty. We will examine how these intersect with rising late-diagnosed neurodivergent conditions like ADHD and Autism, and how these diagnoses shape identity and mental health across the lifespan.
Through case studies, evidence-informed interventions and collaborative discussion, we will explore age-specific clinical approaches—highlighting the contrast in working with adolescents versus adults presenting with similar concerns.
