0621 - Family Systems Crisis Management
Course Description
Hours: 12
Grounded in family systems theory, this two-day, interactive professional development course is designed for those who support families navigating high-stakes, emotionally charged, and ethically complex situations. Participants will examine key challenges, such as managing psychiatric symptomatology within the family system—including conditions like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and eating disorders—as well as navigating therapeutic responses to anger, aggression, and escalating conflict. The course will also address best practices for handling disclosures of child and elder abuse, and will provide guidance on ethical dilemmas, such as duty to warn, within a family systems framework.
A variety of experiential and collaborative learning methods—including case studies, video demonstrations, small group discussions, and role plays—will support participants in developing practical, real-world skills for managing family crises with confidence, clarity, and compassion.
