0657 - The Whole Story: Neuroscience, Identity and Healing in Women’s Mental Health
Course Description
Hours: 12
This two-day workshop will provide an interdisciplinary understanding of women’s mental health through the integrated lenses of neuroscience, intersectionality and trauma-informed practice. Designed for mental health practitioners, this training will explore how mental health in women and gender-diverse individuals is shaped by biological, psychological and socio-political forces across the lifespan.
Participants will explore how brain development, hormonal health and trauma exposure intersect with race, class, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, migration and colonization to influence mental health outcomes. The workshop foregrounds intergenerational trauma, gender-based violence and social determinants of mental health, and offers clinical, community and advocacy-based strategies to respond ethically and effectively.
