Built in collaboration with the City of Brantford, Grant Writing for Nonprofits is run by the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences Centre for Professional Development - FHSSPD@wlu.ca
This course will walk you through how to find and write a successful grant application for your nonprofit or charity.
The course includes three modules:
Module One: How to find a grant
We cover four different common types of grant funding, how to identify your organization’s immediate funding needs, and where to look for funding opportunities that meet your needs.
Module Two: Preparing to write a grant
Using a sample grant application, we learn how to review an application in detail to ensure it is a good fit for your organization. We identify all of the steps you need to take before you get started – who to consult with on your team and in your community, what information to gather, and how to shape a project that aligns with both the funder’s priorities and your community’s needs.
Module Three: Writing a grant
We walk through the sample grant application step by step, looking at draft answers to the application questions as guidance for how to improve the responses. We cover how to build an effective project description, how to use evidence to support your case, how to build a workplan and how to complete a grant application budget.
By the end of this course you will be ready to complete a winning grant application from start to finish.
