Course Description

Hours: 12

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) extends far beyond contamination fears and checking rituals. This advanced workshop explores the unique presentation and treatment considerations associated with a wide range of OCD subtypes, including harm OCD, sexual obsessions, scrupulosity, relationship OCD, existential OCD, sensorimotor OCD, perfectionism and other less commonly recognized presentations.

Participants will learn how to differentiate OCD from related disorders, identify subtle mental compulsions and reassurance seeking, refine case conceptualizations and adapt exposure and response prevention (ERP) interventions to address the complexities of each subtype. Special attention is given to common clinician pitfalls, treatment-interfering beliefs and strategies for increasing treatment effectiveness with complex presentations.

Designed for clinicians with foundational ERP training who are seeking greater confidence in treating the full spectrum of OCD.
