0158 - Counselling Techniques in Addiction Practice
Course Description
Hours: 12
This interactive Professional Development course explores counselling techniques for treating addiction in an individual counselling setting. The way we think about addiction will impact the way we treat addiction and so we will learn about the ways addiction has been conceptualized over time and consider our own experiences and views that shape our approach. Participants will have an opportunity to augment their counselling skills with practice in a variety of techniques using solution focused therapy (SFT) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). The focus of this course is on the application of these strategies to the counselling setting while providing many opportunities for participants to practice skill development.
