0257 - Play Therapy Interventions for Helping Children with Mental Health Challenges
Course Description
Hours: 12
The two-day Professional Development course is for professionals working with children and families who are experiencing mental health challenges, such as anxiety, ADHD, relational difficulties, or life transition challenges. The course will introduce the use of play therapy approaches to conduct initial evaluations to identify strengths and challenges, and to use play therapy interventions to help these children and families. This course integrates visual representation, hands-on activities and video clips to put theory into practice. Simple and practical activities will be introduced to the participants in the course and are ready to take home to use right away with the children and families they work with.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the power and value of play, and therapeutic power of play therapy.
- Learn to conduct initial evaluation to identify strengths and challenges using play therapy approaches.
- Learn to develop play therapy intervention plans for common mental health challenges in children.
- Learn to use play therapy interventions and activities to help children and families.
