0423 - Understanding OCD in Children and Youth: Early Intervention and Assessment Strategies

This workshop is designed for professionals working in the fields of psychology, counselling, education and child mental health. This two-day intensive training program aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) symptoms in children and youth, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively identify and assess OCD-related behaviours in this specific population.

Over the course of two days, participants will delve into the intricacies of OCD symptoms, exploring the unique challenges faced by children and adolescents. Through a combination of theoretical instruction, case studies and interactive exercises, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the various manifestations of OCD in this age group, including both obvious and subtle symptoms that often go unnoticed or misdiagnosed.

• Recognize the key diagnostic criteria for OCD in children and youth, differentiating it from other childhood disorders.
• Understand the development and progression of OCD symptoms in the pediatric population.
• Identify common and less apparent signs of OCD in children and adolescents.
