This two-day Professional Development course will provide a strong foundation for supporting gender independent and transgender children, youth and their families. 

The course will provide a basic introduction on gender identity development, a brief history of the models of care and the latest research on supporting trans folks. We explore how to support clients and their families in an affirming and inclusive way through the application of trauma informed affirming therapeutic frameworks that can be easily applied in combination with other therapeutic modalities. 

Participants will also further develop their understanding of gender identity, development and expression, as well as learn key factors around supporting a client’s needs regarding social, medical and legal transition needs.
