Course Description

It’s almost a cliché, but it is true: any broader public sector organization is undergoing constant change.  Internal financial and productivity pressures along with tight budget constraints, virtual settings and constant political pressures mean most organizations are operating in a constantly volatile, changing world.

This Professional Development course is designed to equip students with a good insight into the basic theoretical underpinnings of change management, but the main focus will be practical, hands-on application. We will leverage the instructor’s 25 years of experience in change management, also weaving in the latest in applied neuroscience of change management so that we focus on what really matters in managing your projects and your day-to-day work. Participants will explore the core principles of change management, including models and strategies for effectively analyzing, designing and implementing change initiatives. The two-day course will delve into real-world case studies and practical exercises to develop the skills necessary for managing change in various organizational contexts.

A unique aspect of this course is its focus on the neuroscience of change management. Understanding how the human brain responds to change can provide valuable insights into why people resist change and how to facilitate smoother transitions. It also will help demonstrate what does and doesn’t actually work with popular traditional models of change management. Participants will learn about the neural mechanisms underlying change resistance, stress and adaptation, and how to leverage this knowledge to enhance their change management practices.

Key Learning Objectives
•    Understand the fundamental theories and models of organizational change management.
•    Develop practical skills for planning, executing and sustaining change initiatives.
•    Analyze real-world case studies to identify best practices and common pitfalls in change management.

•    Learn strategies to mitigate resistance to change and promote positive adaptation.

This course is intended for people at all levels of an organization. Though the emphasis will be on using change management within a project setting, it is ideal for anyone involved in planning and implementing change within organizations. It is also valuable for those interested in understanding the human aspects of change management.
